The BreakAway plan is essentially a discounted vacation rate for employees, applicable when they travel personally, and only for weekend stays. The discount can go as low as 30% off regular rates.

Gold/Platinum Status Challenge
Marriott offers different premium membership challenges for employees of various companies, typically including Gold or Platinum status challenges. For example, Apple employees can apply for the Gold status challenge.
Regardless of whether you are a new or existing member, after successfully applying (which requires company email verification), you will immediately get a 3-month Gold status trial. During this period, if you complete 8 paid nights, you will officially receive Gold membership for one year (which means upgrading for the current year, the next year, and 3 months into the following year).
